DARIEN DASH 2019 - DUPAGE COUNTY ARES PUBLIC SERVICE EVENT
Sunday, May 19, 2019 6:30 AM - 12:00 PM NOON
WHERE: Darien Community Park
This is an annual opportunity for our team to assist the Darien Chamber of Commerce and Police Department by providing auxiliary communications for the Darien Dash. Our primary role is to provide safety surveillance on the 5K/10K race course for participants and to report any health and safety related issues. Like last year the race will take place on the streets of Darien's Hinsbrook sub-division with the start and finish line at the Darien Community Park. The course will be exactly the same as the 2018 course. Don Damon, KC9ITI, will be the Incident Commander. Amateur radio operators who can participate are asked to e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org
Sunday, June 24 - 6:00 AM to early afternoon
Start Finish and Net Control are at Central High School, near Burlington, Illinois on Plato Road, 1 mile west of IL Route 47 and approximately 8 miles south of I–90 (44W625 Plato Road, Hampshire, IL 60140 for gps maps).
DuPage and Kane Co. ARES jointly organize communications support for this popular bicycle ride which travels quiet and scenic paved roads of rural Kane County.
We generally support radio communications for incident command at the start finish, two rest stops and around four SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles which travel the course helping riders and looking for safety concerns.
Interested hams should contact Dave Harr email@example.com.
ARES provides communications support for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundations Cycle for Life, held this year on August 18, 2018. This is an event offering riders multiple distances.
Start - Finish and the radio net control center is at Kuipers' Family Farm in Maple Park. Radio Amateurs provide comms at four rest stops stretching from Plano to eastern DeKalb Co., and for foud SAG vehicles.
